PS. I generally use the cheaper Adidas shoes. The build quality is superb, and the cut tends to suit my feet (narrow, high instep). I fence 3-5 times a week, and I tend to go through one pair a year.

As a litle bit of info, since you say you have narrow feet I would recommend you try both Hi-Tec and Adiddas shoes first. From my own experience (and most other people that voice an opinion seem to agree) the Hi-Tec's are broader than the Adiddas fencing shoes. As someone who has narrowish feet I found that without tying the Scimitars as tight as humanly possible they felt like wearing a pair of clogs. Although they seemed to be good sturdy shoes, good enough to be passed on to another fencer (who found they fitted them just fine) to save them having to fork out a lot of money for a while at least, I just never felt they fitted my feet the way the Addidas ones did.
