Mets fans needn’t worry about Jeff McNeill leaving Queens anytime soon.
according to ESPN’s Jeff Passanthe Mets agreed to a four-year, $50 million extension with McNeil.
McNeill was the National League batting champion last season. 326 batting average with 9 home runs and 62 RBIs.
The baseball world believes this deal is a bargain for the Mets, and rightly so. McNeil is in the prime of his career.
“The batting champion AAV is $12.5 million,” said one. “Men want to play for the Mets. It’s a great time to be a fan.”
“A big deal for the #Mets,” a Mets fan wrote in response to the news. A true Met.”
“THIS IS HUGEEEE,” another fan tweeted.
With McNeill’s contract situation dealt with, there’s not much left for the front office to do this offseason.
After all, the Mets have enough firepower to host the World Series next season.
