Associate Dean Kendra Kilpatrick was recently awarded the EAB 2022 Technology Pioneer Award for her innovative leadership in student success. Killpatrick has led the university in implementing his Navigate, a platform for student success.
“Our goal for all Seaver students is to find an academic program that challenges and inspires them so they can successfully graduate from Pepperdine,” says Kilpatrick. “Using the Navigate platform, we are able to provide our students with comprehensive academic support that incorporates many areas of the College such as OneStop, Student Success Center and Faculty Advisor. We can provide important information about whether you can benefit from additional academic support and provide those resources in a timely manner.”
With 95% of Seaver College first-year undergraduates downloading the mobile app, Navigate’s usefulness resonates with students. Managed by Associate Dean Kindi De Long, using this platform, students receive an array of resources to advance their academic careers. Specifically, the Navigate app allows undergraduates to receive helpful academic to-do lists, enrollment options, advice and financial hold relief while streamlining their graduation application.
In addition to advocating on behalf of this valuable resource, Pepperdine University has served as an alpha partner for next-generation academic planning. In this collaboration, the university has helped build effective tools. This allows the student to optimally plan her four-year graduation plan. By designing this plan in Navigate, advisors across campus can view and provide feedback to students.
“Students, faculty, and campus staff are familiar with combining both online and in-person student support services,” said Scott Schirmeier, EAB’s president of technology. “EAB’s 2022 Student Success Collaborative Awards winner is rethinking the student support model and using technology in creative ways to keep students on track for graduation.”
The EAB 2022 Technology Pioneer Awards recognize Kilpatrick as a leader in leveraging technology to drive student success. Not only that, this honor demonstrates the commitment of his College, Seaver, to creating an environment that fosters academic success.
