Earlier this month, Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy were killed in a car accident in Athens.
The fatal car accident occurred on January 15, just hours after the Bulldogs’ victory parade.
On Saturday, the University of Georgia Athletic Association provided an update on the tragedy.
It turns out that the SUV involved in this accident was supposed to be used for recruitment activities only. Private use of this vehicle is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
LeCroy and Willock were not authorized to drive the SUV that Saturday.
The Athletic Association said, “The accident car was one of several cars that our sports club had leased for recruitment purposes. stipulated that it should be submitted immediately after the end of the recruiting process.Personal use was strictly prohibited. The recruiting process ended earlier that night and was not permitted.”
A police report cited “excessive speed” as one of the main causes of the crash.
At this time, our thoughts are with the Georgia community.
