When you don’t see the field as much as Georgia punter Brett Thorson, you need a sense of humor about the situation.
Thanks to the Bulldogs’ strong offense, Thorson only punts 22 times in nine games. He actually punted four times in Georgia’s win over Tennessee last weekend, including his 75-yard bomb that dropped on his first.
On Wednesday, Thorson had fun with his quarterback and the UT fanbase on Twitter.
“I heard that Stetson Bennett’s phone number has been circulating over the weekend, can someone please send it so I can thank him for allowing me to punt at the end?” he asked.
Thorson cites reports that Tennessee fans obtained Bennett’s cell phone number and flooded him with messages before the game.
Bennett himself playfully taunted a visiting crowd with phone gestures after scoring a touchdown in a game that the Bulldogs won 27–13.
As long as he and his offense keep humming like they used to, Thorson won’t have many opportunities to show off his skills.
