Partnership with Vodafone IBM Prepare for the quantum age of applications in telecommunications.

IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced today at the IBM Quantum Summit 2022 that: vodafone group are collaborating with IBM Joining the IBM Quantum Network also gives the company access to the cloud. IBM’s advanced quantum computing systems, and IBM’s Industry-leading quantum expertise. Multinational telecommunications companies IBM Help validate and advance potential quantum use cases in telecommunications.

As part of this collaboration, Vodafone will explore quantum computing for various use cases for carriers. The company also advances its employees’ skills in quantum technology through employee-led iterative prototyping. IBMand actively recruit quantum computing experts to build dedicated capabilities within its ranks.

Through this effort, Vodafone will explore how to apply IBM Quantum Safe encryption technology across its diverse network infrastructure and systems. Future quantum computers will pose threats to today’s standard security such as public key cryptography. Quantum-secure cryptographic protocols not only exist today, they provide capabilities that help protect traditional data and systems from the potential decryption capabilities of these future quantum computers, but US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recently announced four algorithms – three of them. IBM Vodafone’s investigation of these protocols shows that IBM Quantum Safe is the first in understanding and preparing for this risk in telecommunications.

Partnership with IBM It gives you access to quantum technologies that have the potential to offer incredible network optimizations. This is an innovation that can never be achieved with existing computers alone, allowing us to save energy, reduce costs and provide better connectivity to our customers in more locations. ” Luke IvetsonHead of Group R&D vodafone group“Today, our investment in quantum secure cryptography gives us peace of mind that our infrastructure and customer data will always be secure as we explore the benefits of quantum computing.”

I am delighted to

IBM and Vodafone are among the recently announced early members. GSMA Post-Quantum Communications Network Task Forcewhose mission is to help define policies, regulations, and business processes for operators to better protect telecommunications in the future of advanced quantum computing.

Vodafone joins more than 200 members of the IBM Quantum Network, a global community of Fortune 500 companies, start-ups, academia and research institutions, to advance quantum computing and explore its practical applications. Their involvement is designed to set the course for them to harness this future Quantum Advantage capability. That is, when business or scientific computational tasks can be performed more efficiently, cost-effectively, or accurately with quantum computers than with classical computation alone. .
