Moline, Illinois, January 5, 2023 /CNW/ — At John Deere’s CES 2023 keynote, the company unveiled two new technologies: ExactShot™ and electric excavators. They help Deere’s customers become more productive, profitable and sustainable.
John Deere CTO Jahmy Hindman said: “This means we are developing technologies that enable our customers to provide the food, fuel, fiber and infrastructure needed by a growing world population.”
ExactShot allows farmers to reduce the amount of starter fertilizer needed at planting time by over 60%. The technology uses sensors and robotics to precisely place starter fertilizer on seeds planted in the soil, rather than continuously flowing fertilizer across rows of seeds.
Electric excavators powered by Kreisel batteries offer construction workers and road builders lower daily operating costs, reduced site noise, and increased machine reliability without sacrificing the power and performance required by the machine. and provide zero emissions.
ExactShot Details:
-
ExactShot helps farmers become economically and environmentally sustainable as they tirelessly grow the food, fuel and fiber we all depend on. With the world’s population expected to grow from 8 billion to nearly 10 billion by 2050, farmers will need to increase production by 60% to 70% on today’s arable land.
-
ExactShot uses sensors to record the process of individual seeds entering the soil. When this happens, the robot applies only the required amount of fertilizer (approximately 0.2 ML) directly at the very moment the seed hits the ground.
-
Across U.S. corn, ExactShot saves more than 93 million gallons of starter fertilizer each year, preventing wasted fertilizer from encouraging weed growth and increasing the risk of runoff from fields into waterways.
Electric excavator details:
-
Deere’s new electric excavator with Kreisel battery improves reliability, performance and safety in construction. Fewer moving parts, less noise pollution and less emissions when used on construction sites.
-
Deere has acquired a majority stake in Kreisel Electric. Kreisel Electric has created cutting-edge battery technology for a wide range of mobile and stationary applications. Kreisel’s patented liquid cooling architecture provides unmatched longevity, enhanced safety, and improved performance for battery-powered equipment.
-
Kreisel’s charging technology makes connecting to the grid fast and inexpensive.
