Former Ohio State Assistant Coach Zack Smith tweeted on friday Deion Sanders is finalizing a deal to become Nebraska’s next head coach.
It didn’t take long for the folks at 93.7 The Ticket to debunk the rumor.
“Eric Strickland himself also texted Deion Sanders prior to this segment asking if there was any truth to the rumors Zack Smith said. Nick Senart said.
Sanders apparently told Strickland, “That’s not true, my brother.”
Sanders has been tied to the Power Five program over the past year due to his success at Jackson State University.
Two weeks ago, Sanders admitted to accepting calls from other programs during the offseason.
“I’d be an idiot and a liar if I said I wasn’t going to entertain that kind of thing,” Sanders said. “But I have no plans to move or go anywhere.”
That said, there is currently no indication that Sanders will leave Jackson State once this season is over.
Sanders has a 23-5 record as head coach of the Jackson State football program. He should get a lot of attention from other schools in the coming months.
