Due to a technical failure of MBTA’s paratransit service, The RIDE, disabled users were stranded and told to seek other transportation options.
“MBTA’s paratransit service, RIDE, is experiencing a communications and technology outage that is severely impacting RIDE’s vehicle scheduling and dispatch capabilities,” MBTA spokesperson Lisa Battiston said Friday. said in a statement this morning.
“If you plan to travel today, Friday, November 11, please consider alternative transportation. In the event of a medical emergency, please call 911.”
Friday’s outage is particularly inconvenient, as RIDE provides door-to-door shared public transportation for people who cannot always or sometimes use subways, buses, or trolleys due to temporary or permanent physical disabilities.
Battiston said the outage affected the RIDE Access Center (TRAC). The customer was advised to call MBTA’s Customer Support Center at 617-222-3200 for assistance.
“MBTA is working to resolve this issue, and we ask for your patience as we address this critical situation,” said Battiston.
