The new building features 32,000 square feet of space and 25,000 square feet of outdoor space. The building includes a welding lab, an engine and compression lab, commercial wiring, electrical and motor control, instrumentation, hydraulic and mechanical shops and classrooms, and an HVAC.
According to energy department chairman Daniel Hall, this is a significant upgrade from the current building.
“Five to nine subjects are taught at a time,” says Hall. “And that’s what the new facility really helps mitigate.”

“Now they’re on top of each other and scheduling is a nightmare,” Powell said.
According to Natalie Oswalt, Dean of Arts, Science and Technology, the new building was built at a time when the fields of study offered at Panora College were growing.
“Our program has grown a lot,” she said. “With the launch of the petroleum program, we worked with industry to see what their needs were and how that expanded to other associate degree programs, and some smaller certificates. am.”
Oswalt said the new space will allow for several new programs.
“We plan to add drone technology and more,” she said. “We want to be able to make that available to students and businesses. , forklift operation, and other training for partner companies.”
Opportunities also offered to students to improve their skill sets for the workforce.
“For graduates of my two-year program, the pre-graduation job success rate is very high,” says Hall.
With Panora College building for the future, there are limitless opportunities in the areas of need.
“I’m particularly excited about this energy build,” Powell said.
