I remember when my father confessed to me that he had fallen victim to an old scam that required someone calling in the middle of the night, pretending to be a child, and needing emergency funds transferred from Western Union. I was surprised. My father was a bright person. He was skeptical, but he was 83 years old at the time.
I had a friend who met his soulmate by joining a dating service. She corresponded with him. he traveled a lot. cool. they were going to meet. And she said his funds were tied up and he needed to get some temporary cash —
Wow… I couldn’t let her do that. She has very little money of her own. But when I told her this was a scam….she didn’t believe me, he didn’t ask for money, he just explained her problem. they were in love Soulmate.
Somehow I got her to stop sending money. Whose soulmate do you think has disappeared? yes.
Hearing the story of someone who has been captured makes your blood boil. It makes me want to fight back.
So when this story crossed my digital desk, I had to follow it up.
