The NCAA transfer portal’s biggest target is arguably currently on the radar of head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Football Program, former Georgia Bulldogs 6-foot-4 and 190-pound sophomore wide receiver Adonai. Mitchell. And it looks like Texas’ early efforts to get Mitchell out of the portal could pay off soon.
Sark and Longhorns staff visited Mitchell earlier this week. That visit came about 24 hours after initial reports surfaced that Mitchell had submitted his paperwork to enter the transfer portal on January 18.
From Mitchell’s early return from the first day of his visit to Austin, Texas seems to have made a very positive impression on the former recruit.
In fact, multiple reporters/recruiters have predicted Mitchell’s commitment to Texas. Hudson Standish and Horns247’s Mike Roach both entered his Crystal Ball Predictions with a moderate to high confidence level that Mitchell would land in Texas.
Texas Football Trends For UGA Transfer WR Adonai Mitchell After Visiting Austin
Standish entered a Crystal Ball prediction projecting Mitchell to Texas the morning after Mitchell’s name appeared in the portal (January 19). And Roach’s crystal ball was entered on his January 20 morning, about 24 hours after Standish.
Additionally, there’s another recruiting service that seems to be pegging Longhorns as the overwhelming favorite for getting commitments from Mitchell outside of the portal. On3 is literally giving Texas a 100% chance of landing Mitchell.
Indeed, we believe this is due to Mitchell already traveling to Forty Acres while he is probably still contemplating his schedule of visits to other top schools. It looks like you can still visit to see USC Trojans and Ole Miss Rebels among others.
Texas has already landed three portal commitments in the 2023 class, highlighted by former Arkansas Razorbacks Redshirt Junior All-SEC safety Jalen Catalon. If possible, it would be a great addition to the position needed in large receiver rooms.
