The USWNT made a small mistake in their series of friendly matches leading up to the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
In fact, in tonight’s 2-1 loss against Germany, the USWNT made such a history you don’t want to make
The loss was a third in a row for the American women, who had lost three in a row for the first time since 1993.
After winning the CONCACAF Women’s Championship in July, the USWNT won two friendly matches against Nigeria in early September.
Unfortunately, they have been 0-fer since then, losing 2-1 to England on 7 October, 2-0 to Spain on 11 October, and 2-1 tonight.
The good news for Americans is that these games don’t count. The team is still working on some of the younger generation’s potential stars, and many mainstay veterans are not currently on the team due to injuries.
The Women’s World Cup won’t start until July 2023. You’ll have plenty of time to sort things out by then.
Meanwhile, the USWNT will be looking to extend their losing streak in Sunday’s rematch against Germany.
