During Wednesday’s media session, Mavericks star Luka Doncic was asked if he could catch LeBron James on the all-time scoring list.
“It’s always possible, right? But it’s going to be really hard,” Doncic replied. ‘We need players who play for 20 years’
Doncic has announced he won’t be playing in the NBA for 20 years.
“If you’re saying it can’t be helped because I haven’t played much,” Doncic told reporters with a laugh.
Judging by the reaction on social media, NBA fans respect Doncic’s integrity.
One fan said: “He’s been playing professionally since 2013, so the reaction is understandable.
“It’s so funny that people are thinking that because of technology, as long as LeBron is around, this next generation of players is going to play so many players (laughs) these young guys Hurts like never before,” another fan tweeted.
Doncic has been playing professional basketball since 2015. He spent several years at Real Madrid before making his jump to the NBA.
In terms of overall talent, Doncic could be one of the best players of his generation. Since entering the league in 2018, he has averaged 27.3 points per game.
Doncic must be happy to play for at least another decade if he wants to be the all-time top scorer.
